Amanda Seyfried: biography and career

Amanda Michelle Seyfried was born on Dec. 3, 1985 in Allentown, PA, and began modeling when she was 11 years old appearing on the cover of three Francine Pascal books. Seyfried also started acting while she was attending William Allen High School.
She landed her first contract role as Lucinda Marie ‘Lucy’ Montgomery on “As the World Turns” in 2000. She appeared in her second contract role as Joni Stafford on “All My Children” in 2002. More soap work followed as she completed her schooling and she had already secured a place at Fordham University when she was offered a role in the teen hit Mean Girls (2004). She deferred the university place to complete the film. Seyfried also had a recurring role as Lilly Kane on the UPN series “Veronica Mars”, playing Veronica’s best friend who was mysteriously killed at the beginning of the series. In 2007, Seyfried appeared in “Alpha Dog”, a violent drama inspired by the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Her appearances in Mamma Mia! (2008) Red Riding Hood (2011) as the protagonist helped establish her international fame. The actress also appeared in the films “Boogie Woogie” (2008), and “Jennifer’s Body” (2009). Seyfried was cast in five movie roles to be release in 2012, the thriller Gone, the comedy The Big Wedding, the drama The End of Love, In Time, and the role of Cosette in the film adaptation of the musical, Les Miserables. She is also set to play Linda Lovelace in the biopic Lovelace set to release in 2012.
